Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY)

Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) is a 2 semester academic program with 15 weeks each semester designed to prepare international students for university study. It is equivalent to an Australian Year 12.

Academic Assessment
Throughout the MUFY Program, your achievements are carefully monitored and you are given regular feedback on your progress. Assessment includes a mixture of course work, test and examinations. Final assessment takes into account all of the above. All examinations are set, and results are moderated by a Monash academic and ratified by the MUFY Board of Studies, chaired by a Monash University Dean.

Assessment for University Entry
Your minimum score for entry to Monash is calculated by adding your top four subject results achieved (max. 400). A minimum of four subjects must be passed in order to successfully complete the MUFY Program. A Pass grade (P), or for some Faculties, a Credit (C) in English is also required.

Your English grade, however, does not have to be calculated in your best four subjects unless otherwise specified. The listing represents the scoring key used to calculate final scores. Monash Faculties add 8% or 10% of the fifth subject score as a bonus.

Scoring Key
HD (High Distinction) 80 % - 100%
D (Distinction) 70% - 79%
C (Credit) 60% - 69%
P (Pass) 50% - 59%
N (Fail) < 50%
