Young generation of Indonesia in Kalamazoo, Michigan, obtained the Most Outstanding Organisation medal at the 27th International Festival held by Western Michigan University bringing home the grand prize of US$100.
This unprecedented victory has become one of the most valued experiences for the members of the Association of Indonesian Students in USA (PERMIAS) in Kalamazoo.
“Our hard work didn’t go to waste, there’s only 2 points difference with Malaysia and we finally won,” said Markus Suwignyo, President of Kalamazoo’s PERMIAS.
“Our preparation started around the end of February, but when they announced the winner, all the exhaustion was gone. Our friends in the Kalamazoo’s PERMIAS have always made us proud,” said Christopher Aditya, Performance Coordinator for the International Festival 2016.
The International Festival is an annual event held by Western Michigan University aiming at offering a chance for all the international student organisations to showcase their culture.
“In the International Festival, we’re promoting our international student’s cultures, foods and their traditions,” said Wayne Bond, International Students Program Specialist.
