The internship program for Jakarta International College (JIC) students is officially open! This time, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by joining Asa Ren, Indonesia’s largest private digital twin repository, specializing in precision health technology. Asa Ren focuses on delivering personalized healthcare solutions by leveraging genomics and advanced data analytics — a pioneering force in the health-tech sector.
One of our outstanding JIC alumni, Michelle Djohan, successfully secured an internship with Asa Ren. Michelle graduated from JIC in June 2025 and is currently in a transition period while preparing to continue her studies in Australia.
Michelle is placed in the Marketing Division, where she began her internship in August 2025 and will complete it in December 2025. During her time at Asa Ren, Michelle has taken on a variety of marketing tasks, including graphic design support, customer service chat handling, and scriptwriting for PR purposes.

Jakarta, August 15, 2025 – Laughter, warm smiles, and heartfelt connections filled Taman Cattleya as Jakarta International College (JIC) proudly hosted the “Berbela Rasa dengan Pengemudi OJOL Tuna Rungu dan Perempuan” event. This special gathering celebrated the upcoming 80th Indonesian Independence Day with a mission to share kindness and honor the hard work of those in the online transportation industry.
The event reflected this year’s national Independence Day theme: “Bersatu Berdaulat, Rakyat Sejahtera, Indonesia Maju”, highlighting unity, compassion, and respect for everyday heroes who work tirelessly on the streets.
A Celebration with Heart and Purpose
The fresh morning air at Taman Cattleya was alive with energy from participants, volunteers, and community members. Although the Governor of Jakarta could not attend, the spirit of the day remained strong with the presence of Dr. Ali Maulana Hakim, S.IP., M.Si., Assistant for People’s Welfare at the Jakarta Provincial Government.
In his speech, Dr. Ali reminded everyone that supporting vulnerable groups—such as people with disabilities and women in the online transportation sector—is a true reflection of the spirit of independence.
“We must uphold the spirit of independence and togetherness. Limitations should never be an excuse. Every challenge has a solution,” he stated to applause from the crowd.
The President of UNIJI Dr. Wenny Candra Mandagie, S.E., M.Pd. also shared a heartfelt message to all attendees, recalling personal experiences with the dedication of online drivers.
“Your perseverance, even in the rain, to fulfill customer needs is truly inspiring. It is a commitment that deserves recognition.”
Among those who came to share in the moment were drivers from various online transportation platforms widely used in Indonesia such as Grab and Gojek whose presence not only represented the spirit of hard work and perseverance on the streets, but also brought together a diverse group of everyday heroes united in the celebration of compassion and independence.
JIC Philanthropy Club’s Inspiring Involvement
A highlight of the event was the touching involvement of the JIC Philanthropy Club. Representing JIC’s commitment to social responsibility, members stood at the aid distribution tables, personally greeting drivers, lifting grocery packages, and engaging in sign language conversations with deaf and mute participants.
Michael, a JIC student and club member, shared his thoughts:
“We're from JC philanthropy club and today we're celebrating independence day by helping out drivers who are in need in disabilities by giving them food and charity work thank you god bless you.”
Gifts That Go Beyond Necessities
Hundreds of packages containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other daily essentials were distributed. For the drivers, these packages represented more than just food—they were a sign that their hard work and presence are valued by the community.
Celebrating Independence Through Acts of Kindness
This event demonstrated that Independence Day can be celebrated not only through ceremonies and competitions, but also through meaningful acts of empathy. All parties agreed that initiatives like this should continue in the years to come, spreading warmth and solidarity throughout the community.
