On September 7th, 2024, our Philanthropy Club, led by President Cinthaqu Anjani, proudly completed its first charity visit to the Bhakti Mandiri Orphanage in Cibubur, East Jakarta. This was a meaningful milestone for the club and its members, as they took their first step toward making a difference in the community.
Before the visit, the Philanthropy Club organized a donation drive, inviting contributions from the entire University of Jakarta International (UNIJI) and Jakarta International College (JIC) community, including students, parents, and staff. The response was overwhelming, with donations ranging from used clothing and toys to books and other useful items. These donations were then carefully sorted by the club members to ensure they reached the children who needed them most.
On the day of the visit, four engaging activities were planned to bring joy to the children at the orphanage. The first was an English introduction class led by Raoul Spies, where the children were introduced to simple phrases in English, sparking curiosity and smiles. Next, Denaira Yusmika captivated the children with two delightful stories, told in both English and Bahasa, which had the children listening attentively and responding with excitement.
Gabrielle Saputra and Jayden Dinata then brought energy into the room with a K-pop dance cover class. Both the children and our students enjoyed learning and performing the fun dance moves together, filling the space with laughter and joy.
One of the more hands-on activities was a soap-making class, led by Diana Joesoep, Gwen Hartono, and Ni Putu Marcelya. This session was specifically designed for the older children, where they learned how to make soap bars using everyday household ingredients. It was a creative and practical activity that we hope will be useful for the children and the nuns who take care of them.
Throughout the day, the students connected with the children on a personal level. It was heartwarming to see our students show patience, kindness, and compassion as they spent time with children from different age groups.
The visit ended with a shared lunch, where our students and the children sat together, exchanging stories, talking about their hobbies, and bonding over their experiences. It was a proud moment for us all as we saw these friendships blossom.
We’d like to take a moment to congratulate the Philanthropy Club for their hard work and dedication. We’re also incredibly grateful to the children and staff at Bhakti Mandiri Orphanage for their warm welcome and for allowing us to spend such a memorable day together.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to bringing more joy to children in need as the Philanthropy Club continues to grow. See you in the next update!
As August 17th approaches, Jakarta International College (JIC) is buzzing with excitement for Indonesia’s Independence Day! This year, we’re making the celebration extra special and inviting all our students to join in the fun.
On August 15th, JIC, as the University of Jakarta International (UNIJI)'s international program, hosted a lively Independence Day field day at Cattleya Park, right next to our Jakarta campus. The event was filled with traditional games that truly capture the spirit of this important holiday. We set up five classic games: ‘Tarik Tambang’ (Tug of War), ‘Balap Karung’ (Sack Race), ‘Balap Kelereng’ (Marble Race), ‘Lomba Bakiak’ (Wooden Sandal Race), and ‘Balloon Transfer’. Both our UNIJI students and international students got involved, eagerly competing for fun prizes and the thrill of victory.
The field day was a huge hit! Everyone had a blast playing the games, cheering each other on, and sharing lots of laughs. It was more than just a competition; it was a fantastic chance for students to connect, build teamwork, and celebrate the festive spirit of Independence Day together. Watching everyone come together, share stories, and enjoy these traditional games was truly heartwarming.
We’re deeply grateful to all the students who joined in and made the event so memorable. Your excitement and participation were key to the day’s success. We look forward to organizing more events that bring our community together and create even more fun experiences. Here’s to many more adventures and celebrations with you all!
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming important visitors from Monash University to our new campus. Fabian Marrone, who is the Chief Marketing, Admissions, and Communications Officer and Vice-President, led the visit. He was joined by Mark Scherian, Group Manager from Monash’s International Student Recruitment team, and Nicholaas So, Senior Regional Manager.
The purpose of their visit was to strengthen the long-standing relationship between Monash University and Jakarta International College (JIC) and to introduce them to our new, modern campus. During their visit, Fabian Marrone spoke with our Monash College students, giving them a brief introduction to Monash University. This was a great opportunity for our students to hear directly from a senior leader at Monash.
Our partnership with Monash University began in 2002 when we became the first and only provider of the Monash College program in Indonesia. Over the last 22 years, our collaboration has grown stronger, and we have successfully helped more than 2,000 students transfer to Monash University’s campuses in Australia and Malaysia. We are proud of the strong and lasting relationship we have built with Monash University and are committed to continuing this successful partnership.
Monash University has also shown its support for our students by offering an exclusive study grant of AUD 10,000 specifically for JIC students. We are very grateful to Fabian Marrone, Mark Scherian, and Nicholaas So for their visit today. Their presence highlights the strong connection between our institutions, and we hope they enjoyed their time on our campus. We look forward to welcoming them back soon.
Dear JIC Family,
In this opportunity, Jakarta International College would like to extend congratulations to our long-standing partner, Monash University, for their achievement in the 2024 QS World University ranking. Monash University has reached new heights by placing 37th in the world university ranking, its highest achievement so far.
As a young university just above 50 years old since its founding, Monash University has reached many milestones that Jakarta International College could not help but feel inspired by. We are proud to be the official partner of Monash University in Indonesia and hope to follow in Monash University's steps.
For students who are planning to study in Australia, we believe that choosing Monash University is one of the best choices you can make. Not only is Monash University in the top 40 of the world university ranking, it is also one of the top 5 universities in Australia.
As a matter of fact, Monash University also boasts some of the best schools and majors in Australia, including its pharmacy and pharmacology program, which ranks 2nd in the world, below only Harvard University as the best Pharmacy and Pharmacology program in the world.
Jakarta International College students are guaranteed entry to Monash University, and as a long-standing partner of Monash University, we also receive an exclusive study grant offer of AUD 10,000 for students transferring from JIC to Monash University. So students who choose JIC as the pathway to Monash University not only can stay longer in Indonesia and save on tuition fees and living costs, but also receive the exclusive study grant offer.
Jakarta International College would like to once again congratulate Monash University on their great achievements. We also wish them the best in their future endeavors and hope they reach even greater heights.
Thank you, and see you at the next update.
