On June 5, 2025, the 23rd floor of Jakarta International Tower was buzzing with laughter, pride, and emotion. Jakarta International College (JIC) was hosting its annual Celebration of Completion, a big deal for students who’ve finished their studies and are now off to study at top universities in Australia, the US, and the UK.

From the moment we signed up at 3 PM, the place was electric! Students, families, lecturers, and guests all came together to celebrate more than just a ceremony. It was a big celebration of hard work, perseverance, and the start of amazing new adventures abroad.

The event began with a warm welcome from the MC. Then, the students entered the stage, each step symbolizing their journey at JIC. The atmosphere became more patriotic and emotional as everyone stood for the national anthem. After that, there was an opening prayer, and the audience was then treated to a breathtaking traditional dance performance), showcasing Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage. It was a lovely reminder that while our students are embarking on international adventures, their roots remain firmly connected to home.

Words That Inspire Futures

Key figures from JIC, including Mr. Antonius Agus Susanto (Chairman), Ms. Wenny Candra Mandagie (Founder), and Ms. Fransisca Laij (Academic Director), delivered heartfelt speeches that reflected JIC’s mission: to provide a supportive, high-quality international education that empowers students to thrive globally.

They talked about transformation—not just academic, but personal. From shy first-year students to confident young adults ready to take on Monash University in Australia, Western Michigan University in the USA, or exciting new pathways in the UK or China, this event was a celebration of everything they’ve become.

During the medal and letter ceremony, each student was recognized for their achievements. As seen in JIC’s Instagram reel (@jakarta.international.college), the moment was filled with genuine joy, hugs, and a few happy tears.

Ms. Catherine Thomas (Diploma and WMU) and Mr. David Henderson (MUFY) added to the celebration with their inspiring words. A student representative also delivered a moving speech, reminding everyone of the friendships, challenges, and unforgettable experiences that shaped their time at JIC.

Appreciation was extended to Student Club Presidents, and the Music Club’s performance—dedicated to parents—was a beautiful tribute to those who supported each student's journey. The evening continued with photo sessions, a lively Dance Club performance, and finally, a warm dinner with family, faculty, and fellow students accompanied by more music and dance.
