From the very beginning of her Diploma of Business (Commerce Stream) studies at Jakarta International College (JIC), Kayley Adiana Imanto was a shining example of turning opportunities into achievements. Her story is a testament to determination, growth, and the pursuit of balance a reminder that ambition, when nurtured in the right environment, can unlock endless possibilities.
After completing her Diploma of Business at JIC, Kayley had a brief break before diving back into her studies at Monash University Melbourne. Instead of taking time off, she decided to make those months count. Eager to gain practical experience, she started applying for internships that would help her build both her professional and interpersonal skills. Through the China–Indonesia Expo, she connected with Whatshop (PT. Gogobuy), a Chinese multinational social e-commerce company, and soon landed a position as a Business Development Assistant.

In her new role, Kayley is helping to develop university partnerships and marketing initiatives while also assisting with trilingual communication between English, Mandarin, and Indonesian. Although English is her strongest language, she continues to improve her Chinese and Indonesian fluency using her persistence and open-mindedness to bridge communication gaps and foster collaboration between teams. She describes this as one of the most rewarding parts of her job, where she can see the value of cultural understanding in real business operations.
Looking back on her journey, Kayley gives JIC’s learning environment a big thank you for helping her gain confidence and sharpen her leadership skills. “The mix of practical studies, supportive lecturers, and collaborative projects really prepared me for the professional world,” she explained. Her coursework in marketing, finance, and data analysis gave her a solid foundation to analyze business strategies, understand consumer behavior, and make data-driven decisions in her current job.
Kayley’s energy and leadership really turned JIC’s Entrepreneur Club into one of the most active student societies on campus! She started as a member, then became Head of Marketing and Social Media, and later Head of Research and Development, before finally becoming the CEO of the club.

Under her leadership, the club grew from just a few members to over double (40 members)! She also helped create systems to make things run smoother and more efficiently. Kayley led projects that brought in over IDR 15 million in revenue, developed new products, and gave her peers the chance to learn teamwork and tackle real-world business challenges.
Even with a packed schedule, she always made sure to find time for friends, teamwork, and personal growth, which helped her maintain a “work-life harmony” that kept her motivated and creative. Her dedication to balance paid off when she earned the Academic Merit Award, recognizing her outstanding performance both inside and outside the classroom.
Kayley’s journey is a fantastic reminder that the classroom isn’t the only place where you can shine! Whether she was steering product development, crafting marketing campaigns, or putting together events, Kayley always pushed herself and others to dream big. Now that she’s off to Monash University for her studies, her story is still lighting up the JIC community.
The JIC Team is so proud of her achievements and encourages all students to follow Kayley’s example to stay curious, seek out opportunities, and believe in their potential to achieve amazing things!
